21AT/EU084 SKRÄDDAREN ISLAND, STOCKHOLM

The QTH of this activation was Skräddaren Island in the beautiful Stockholm archipelago. The island is very small and has no facilities at all. The trip to the island was done in a 5-meter aluminum boat and we arrived just before lunch on Saturday. Due to some technical difficulties, we weren't on air until 13:55 GMT. Equipment used during this activation was the President Lincoln, a 1/2 wave sloping dipole, a Howe speech processor and batteries. The 40-horse power 4-stroke Honda engine on the boat proved to be a reliable power source. We also got a chance to try out the twin-lead folded dipole in reality, it was installed in an almost vertical polarization and provided good reports. The activation suffered from very poor propagation resulting in the low number of contacts. The rough weather forced us to leave the island after lunch on Sunday, but we returned later during the evening just to be able to make the last 10 contacts before the band went dead again.
